Atlanta Beltline Eastside Trail Recognized by EPA

On Wednesday, the Environmental Protection Agency recognized 7 communities as winners of the 2013 National Award for Smart Growth Achievement. The Atlanta Beltline Eastside Trail was named winner in overall excellence for ” its creative, sustainable initiatives that better protect the health and environment of the community.”

The Eastside Trail portion of the Atlanta Beltline is 2.25 miles long and runs along the railroad corridor from 10th St and Monroe Dr near Piedmont Park down to Irwin St near Dekalb Ave.  GC&PA member, Argos Ready Mix supplied the concrete for this award-winning project. According to Argos, “The Eastside Trail consists of over 3500 yards of integrally colored concrete with exposed limestone coarse aggregate mined from North Ga.  Recycled material was also used in the mix to mirror the project effort for sustainability.”

Congratulations to Argos and all organizations associated with this project.
