How the Pentagon's Design Saved Lives on September 11

Construction of the Pentagon began September 11th, 1941. Exactly 60 years later, 125 lives were tragically lost in the Pentagon on 9/11/01. After structural damage analysis, it was revealed that the death toll could have been far worse. National Geographic states: “The team’s expert conclusion was that two strategic design decisions made 60 years earlier had kept the Pentagon upright. The first had to do with the way the concrete columns holding up the floors and ceilings were reinforced. Spiral rebar, they discovered, had saved the day”. Learn more here:
