Because ready mixed concrete is a perishable product that generally must be placed within about 90 minutes of batching, it is an inherently local industry. Plants must be located near the communities and projects they serve.

Georgia is home to more than 300 ready mixed concrete plants located throughout the state.
Unlike many manufactured products that can be produced in one location and shipped hundreds of miles, ready mixed concrete is delivered while still in its unhardened state. Once water meets cement, hydration begins, and the material generally must be placed within approximately 90 minutes.
That means Georgia’s concrete plants are not simply manufacturing facilities they are part of the communities and local economies they serve.
