Georgia Mixer Sales Tax Exemption
The Mixer Sales Tax Exemption for replacement and maintenance of mixer trucks, as outlined in Georgia Senate Bill 6, covers all purchases related to the maintenance of mixer trucks. This includes anything related to the mixer itself, the engine, the cab, tires, belts, greases, oils, etc. Any items necessary to keep the mixer and/or truck in proper working order and safe are included. This exemption does not cover title ad valorem tag fees during the purchase of a new truck or chassis. To take advantage of this exemption, provide your suppliers/vendors with a Georgia Department of Revenue Form ST-5M Certificate of Exemption for Manufacturers and check box number 5

The Department of Public Safety is the State Lead Agency for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP). Under this program, DPS/MCCD conducts safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles (primarily trucks and buses), inspects highway shipments of hazardous materials, and performs compliance reviews (safety performance audits) on motor carriers. The Department adopts and enforces driver and vehicle safety regulations and hazardous materials regulations as part of this program.
